WAC censures Israel's aggression on Gaza as breach of international laws

AMMAN — The World Affairs Council (WAC) has been following Israel's aggression against the Gaza Strip which is in violation of international and humanitarian laws, as well as global treaties and agreements.

Israel has used the most advanced military weaponry against innocent civilians, causing devastation, death and injuring thousands, including women, children and even hospital patients. Israel has also cut off vital resources, including water, electricity and communications infrastructure, and obstructed the delivery of humanitarian aid, according to a WAC statement.

WAC warned that Israel's actions will not be confined to Gaza, but will have far-reaching effects on neighbouring countries, both near and far. This seems to be supported by the Israeli prime minister's remarks during a United Nations event, entailing that he will work towards changing the map of the Middle East.

Gaza is only the beginning, with the West Bank the next target.

His Majesty King Abdullah has consistently warned of the consequences of failing to achieve a just peace that allows the Palestinians to establish their Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, known as the two-state solution.

The WAC stressed that in this dangerous situation, it is of the utmost importance that the Jordanian people of all backgrounds unite behind their leadership. They should express their opinions and positions with great care and discipline, avoiding chaos and unrest.
