AMMAN — A slight rise in mercury levels is forecast for Tuesday, when temperatures will be around their annual average of 8°C during this time of the year, meteorologist Abdul Munem Qaralleh said on Monday.

Temperatures in Amman will range between a high of 7°C and a low of 1°C, while winds will be southeasterly moderate to brisk.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture on Monday started examining the magnitude of crop damage in the Jordan Valley following a five-day snowstorm that witnessed strong winds and freezing temperatures.

Technical committees from the ministry have started inspecting frost damage to crops in the Jordan Valley, Agriculture Ministry Spokesperson Nimer Haddadin told The Jordan Times.

Over 17 million cubic metres of water entered the country’s 10 major dams during the recent blizzard, raising storage levels to almost half their total capacity, a government official said on Monday.
