Workshop participants discuss draft audiovisual law

AQABA — The Lower House Media and National Guidance Committee and the Audiovisual Commission concluded a workshop on Saturday that discussed the draft audiovisual law.

MP Zakariya Sheikh, head of the House panel, said the workshop included six sessions with the participation of different sectors to reach a modern law that regulates the work of media outlets.

Audiovisual Commission Director General Amjad Qadi stressed the importance of the workshop in amending the 2002 temporary audiovisual law, especially in light of the developments in the media sector and the latest technological advancements.

Jordan Press Association President Tareq Momani said the syndicate is concerned with formulating reform laws that enhance press freedom.
