Youth Debating Championship begins

AMMAN — The Youth Debating Championship, organised by the Jordanian Youth Ministry in partnership with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), kicked off on Sunday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the opening ceremony, which was attended by the ambassadors of the GCC state members, Youth Minister Mohammad Nabulsi stressed the depth of relations, whose foundations were laid by His Majesty King Abdullah and leaders of the GCC state members. Nabulsi said that the ministry’s partnership with the GCC comes as a result of the two sides’ desire to develop joint youth programmes that empower young people and increase their capabilities.
The GCC General Secretariat Representative Abdulaziz Hmoud said that the debates encourage effective dialogue, refine participants’ characters and discuss issues of interest to youth, stressing the keenness of the GCC and Jordan to enhance cooperation.
The championship, which was extend to June 30, includes holding a number of debates followed by a three-round, final debate, during which two speakers from each country will be qualified.
