AMMAN — Jordan’s Olympic gold medallist Ahmad Abu Ghaush has moved up to third in the world for his weight in the latest World taekwondo rankings, according to the Jordan Olympic Committee News Service.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a super year, winning 30 points after clinching golds in the UAE and Egypt last month. He goes up to 368.81 points in the -68kg class, but still trails No. 1 Lee Dae-hoon, of Korea, on 588.40 points, and Belgium’s Jaouad Achab.

Strong performances have also seen his teammates rise through the ranks. Gold in the UAE and silver in Egypt saw Hamzeh Qattan moved up eight places in the +80kg to 44th, while Saleh Al Sharabati climbed 15 places in the -80kg weight to 53rd after his gold in the UAE.
