AMMAN — Fans hope Week 5 of the 63rd Jordan Professional League which kicks off Thursday will finally put the competition in high gear after three matches ending in goalless draws last week.

There were many changes in the standings last week as titleholders Wihdat lost their lead after a 0-0 draw with Hussein. Wihdat are second and will play Manshieh.

Ramtha are in the lead after a 2-0 win over neighbours Ittihad Ramtha. They have scored four consecutive wins and will play Hussein Irbid.

Former champs Faisali held Shabab Urdun 0-0 and remained in third place as the latter dropped to fifth. Faisali will play Baqaa on Friday.

Jazira are fourth after a 4-2 win over Manshieh. They will play Shabab Urdun in a match that is important for both teams struggling for a standing among the top five.

In other matches, That Ras, who held Baqaa 1-1, will play last placed Ahli, who were held to a 0-0 draw by Sarih. Ittihad Ramtha play Sarih and Ahli take on That Ras.

Teams are also readying for the Jordan Cup quarters now set for October 26: Ahli vs. Ramtha, That Ras vs. Jazira, Wihdat vs. Sarih and Faisali vs. Manshieh. Baqaa, Shabab Urdun and Hussein were eliminated. Only Jordan Professional League teams are competing this year.

Wihdat won the first major competition of the 2014/15 football season after they beat Baqaa 2-0 in the 32nd Super Cup.

Last season, Wihdat won the Jordan Professional League title for the 13th time and beat Baqaa to win the Jordan Cup, while Shabab Urdun beat That Ras to win the Super Cup. The Jordan Football Association Shield was not held.
