AMMAN — On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of independence of Ukraine on Monday, the ministry of foreign affairs has launched a new project titled “Tell World About Ukraine”, according to an embassy statement sent to The Jordan Times on Sunday.

In the statement, the ministry described “20 interesting facts” about Ukraine, starting from the most ancient settlement of Homo Sapiens in Mezhyrich, Cherkasy region, to the country’s political and diplomatic stances, cultural heritage and economic achievements.

Asserting the nation as a “supporter and protector of the UN principles in international relations”, the ministry recalled Ukraine’s “voluntary renouncement of the third largest nuclear weapons stockpile in the world” after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The ministry rejected the “Russian aggression against Ukraine’s territorial integrity” and the annexation of Crimea.

In addition, the statement affirmed that “the Ukrainian people are Europeans and [the] future of Ukraine is in Europe”.

The statement also highlighted Ukraine’s record as a leading global agro-export player and its achievements in the higher education sector.
