114 assigned as toll-free emergency number for deaf community

AMMAN — A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, the Public Security Directorate and telecom companies Zain, Orange, Umniah and Globitel to assign the emergency number 114 free of charge for people with hearing impairments on all mobile networks.

During the ceremony, HH Prince Mired, president of the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) awarded the partners certificates of appreciation in recognition of their continued efforts towards providing people with disabilities access to services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The emergency number 114 is an emergency video call system for the deaf community that allows callers to visually report dangerous situations via smart phones.
