AMMAN — President of the Jordan Baptist Convention Reverend Suheil Madanat on Wednesday denounced Christian Zionists and announced the Baptist community’s support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Christian and Islamic holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
During the Amman Baptist School’s graduation ceremony of 107 students, under the patronage of Princess Sumaya, Madanat described the current situation as “an unknown curtain that has left its shadow on the entire region”, the statement sent to The Jordan Times said.
Madanat called for supporting His Majesty King Abdullah and said: “We as Baptists and Jordanian evangelists denounce the so-called Christian Zionism which we consider a politicisation and distortion of the Holy Bible and its spiritual message”.
Baptists have been active in Jordan since seven decades supporting hospitals and schools, the statement said.
