Court hands down sentences in brokerage firm scam cases

AMMAN — The State Security Court (SSC) on Monday held three sessions to look into cases involving brokerage firm scams.

In the first session, SSC sentenced a man to 21 years and three months in prison and a fine of JD5,100.

He was also ordered to pay back the JD5,216,705 he acquired through fraud to 2,750 plaintiffs.

In the second session, SSC sentenced three defendants to four years and three months and a fine of JD1,700 each.

A fourth man was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of JD100.

The four defendants were ordered to pay back JD73,390 to 90 plaintiffs.

In the third session, the SSC sentenced two men to nine years and a fine of JD300 each, with one of them paying back JD2,025,152.

A third man in the same case was sentenced to nine years and ordered to pay back JD2,099,000, while a fourth defendant was sentenced to two years and a fine of JD200, and was ordered to pay back JD208,000 to 524 plaintiffs.
