AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Monday attended the launch of the Crafts Market platform, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During his participation, he said that Jordan has a great heritage, which must be translated on the ground, and marketed locally and globally.

In turn, Culture Minister Haifa Najjar said that sustainable innovation is achieved through full partnership between the public and private sectors and civil institutions.

She added that the platform raises the level of Jordanian craftspersons' productivity and competitiveness on global platforms, through the Ministry of Digital Economy.

She said that the craft sector is one of the most important sectors supporting the economy around the world, considering that it suffers locally from marginalisation and lack of proper institutionalisation.

The platform was launched as the first Jordanian marketing platform with a global vision and specialised, quality services provided to craftspersons free of charge, she noted.

It seeks to increase the volume of sales of Jordanian handicraft products in global markets, introducing the Jordanian product in a modern manner, she added.

The non-profit platform is designed to support national products and handcrafts, helping them grow in Jordan and abroad, by giving them the local, regional and global opportunity to display and sell their products online.
