Criminal Court prosecutor questions man for shooting wife, brother-in-law

AMMAN — The Criminal Court prosecutor on Monday began questioning a man who allegedly shot and wounded his wife and brother-in-law in Amman earlier in the day, according to official sources.

The two victims allegedly received multiple bullet wounds from the suspect following a family dispute in Jabal Ashrafieh, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.

“The suspect was immediately arrested, and a weapon was seized by investigators at the shooting scene,” the police official maintained.

The two victims were rushed to Al Bashir Hospital and are being treated there, according to Sartawi.

The weapon was sent to the Forensic and Laboratories Department for a ballistic match and further analysis, he added.

Criminal Court prosecutor Farhan Abdullah questioned the suspect to learn more about his motives behind the alleged shooting incident, a senior judicial source told The Jordan Times.

Abdullah will also question the two victims who are being treated at the hospital to learn more about the shooting incident, a senior judicial source said.

“The prosecutor will question the victims and other family members to learn more about the circumstances that led to the shooting incident,” the senior judicial source told The Jordan Times.

Based on their testimony, the senior judicial source maintained, “Abdullah will decide what charges to level against the suspect, the senior judicial source added.

The suspect was ordered detained by Abdullah at a correctional and rehabilitation centre for 15 days pending further investigations into the shooting incident, according to a statement by the Public Security Directorate.
