AMMAN — Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez and his Tunisian counterpart Mohamed Moez Belhassine on Tuesday discussed means to enhance tourist cooperation and increase tourist exchange between the countries.

The two ministers, during a virtual meeting for the Jordanian-Tunisian joint sectorial committee on tourism, went over key items of the tourist executive programme for the 2022-2024 period, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Fayez highlighted the importance of the programme and the importance of exchanging tourist expertise between the public and private sectors in both countries.

The minister also noted that the committee agreed to form four joint action teams to follow up on the executive programme with regards to tourist promotion, tourism training, developing products and organising the labour market, and the traditional and handicraft industries.

Belhassine said that Jordan and Tunisia are “pioneers” in the tourism field and have the expertise and ability to rebound from crises affecting the tourism sector. He highlighted the procedures in place to help the sector recover from the pandemic and commended the Jordanian skills in the sector.

Tunisia's Ambassador to Jordan Khaled Al Suhaili praised the efforts of all stakeholders who contributed to the programme’s final draft.

Jordan’s Ambassador in Tunis said that the two sides’ efforts have made the countries’ tourism sectors not competitors, but partners.
