AMMAN — Officials on Saturday said investigations into the burning death of a 70-year-old man at his home in Irbid over the weekend was accidental. The victim was found by his family on Friday, a senior official source said.
Investigators and forensic experts rushed to the scene and concluded from initial examination that foul play was not a factor.
An autopsy conducted on Saturday at the Irbid National Institute of Forensic Medicine reported that the man died as a result of “flames that engulfed his surroundings”, a senior medical source said.
“The investigations indicated that the elderly [man] probably died from a source of heat that was near him. Police questioned his family and ruled out homicide,” the medical source told The Jordan Times.
