Man found dead in Zarqa, likely suicide

AMMAN — Police on Monday said they are investigating a shooting incident that left a 55-year-old Zarqa man dead.
The victim was found shot dead with a single bullet to his neck, a senior official source said.
A postmortem conducted on the victim by Zarqa National Institute for Forensic Medicine indicated that the victim had been dead for a maximum of 24 hours, a senior medical official said.
“The victim died of a single bullet that was shot at close range,” the senior medical official told The Jordan Times.
Police Spokesperosn Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi ruled out foul play for the time being.
“We believe that the victim most probably shot himself and homicide is ruled out for the time being,” Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
The police official added that investigators are currently questioning the victim’s family.
“We are currently questioning relatives and close friends to learn more about the incident before we issue a final decision into the incident,” Sartawi said.
