AMMAN — Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, on Saturday inaugurated a metal waste containers manufacturing plant and the Mutah University’s female students dorm in Karak, which were set up in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives following a meeting with the southern governorate’s leaders and dignitaries.

The metal container manufacturing plant was implemented to cover the needs of the Greater Karak Municipality and the neighbouring municipalities with a 50 per cent lower production costs than the local market, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The plant’s workers have received the needed training in the Greater Amman Municipality’s similar facilities.

The Mutah University’s female students dorm consists of three floors with a total capacity of about 69 beds with outdoor spaces and nine warehouses on the ground floor to be rented with the aim of securing steady revenues to support the facility, Petra said.

Issawi said that these productive projects, which were set up in implementation of the Royal initiatives, aim at improving the quality of services provided to citizens in addition to empowering municipalities and enhancing their capabilities in providing quality and highly efficient services to citizens.

He also underlined the need to direct initiatives towards implementing productive projects that provide employment opportunities for youth in the governorates, according to Petra.

Issawi also checked on the second phase of Juthoor project (in Arabic “roots”) in Wadi El Mujib region, which aims at planting a 20, 000-donum forest, Petra reported.
