JFDA destroyed 4,625 tonnes of spoiled food in 2014

AMMAN — The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) on Tuesday said it conducted 53,012 inspection visits to 89 per cent of foodstuff institutions within its jurisdiction in 2014, which resulted in destroying 4,625 tonnes of spoiled food.

The inspections also resulted in closing or suspending 2,583 food institutions for violations.

Amman topped the list of closed and suspended institutions, while Karak came in last place.
