Jordan can ‘easily’ attract more tourists from India — ambassador

AMMAN — Indian Ambassador to Jordan Anil Trigunayat on Sunday called for easing visa procedures for Indian nationals travelling to Jordan while underlining the “excellent ties” between the two countries at various levels.
During a visit to The Jordan Times, the ambassador said last year around 50,000 Indian nationals visited Jordan, noting that the number can be easily raised with good promotion campaigns by the concerned tourism authorities here in Amman.
Jordan has a lot to offer Indian tourists, who usually spend five to six days visiting unique attractions such as Petra and the Dead Sea.
He lauded Jordanian-Indian business ties and said the annual trade balance between the two countries currently stands at $2 billion, with the two sides working to increase it to $5 billion by the year 2025.
As for political ties, Trigunayat said the two countries see eye-to-eye on various issues.
