AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday condemned the Israeli announcement of the construction of 7,000 settlement units in the occupied West Bank within the Efrat settlement.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Daifallah Fayez denounced and rejectedthe announcement, calling it a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, according to a ministry statement.
Fayez also warned against this unilateral step that would undermine opportunities for a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions.
Cautioning of the repercussions of such a plan, the ministry called on the international community to move effectively to stop the implementation of any such scheme.
The ministry also reiterated that the policy of building settlements, land annexation and confiscation and forced displacement would only undermine peace opportunities and fuel the conflict.
