AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday sent a cable to Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain, expressing his sympathies over the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of over 100 people, including students and teachers.

The King expressed his strong condemnation of "such a criminal act", a Royal Court statement said.

Also on Thursday, His Majesty — in a telephone call with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott — condemned the terrorist act that took place this week in Sydney, calling for intensifying efforts to combat terrorism, which threatens world peace and security.

The Monarch also discussed bilateral ties and prospects for further cooperation with Abbott.

In addition, they examined the latest regional and international issues of mutual concern, according to the Royal Court.

In another phone call, King Abdullah discussed bilateral ties with Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

In addition, they highlighted efforts to bring about regional peace and fight extremism and terrorist groups.
