AMMAN — The Lower House on Wednesday approved draft amendments to Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Law for 2022.

The House, during a session chaired by Speaker Ahmad Safadi and attended by Cabinet members, approved the amendments as referred by its Economy and Investment Committee, following an extensive debate on the bill's article, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

According to the validating reasons of the draft law, foreign companies shall initially register at Companies Control Department ahead of registering at ASEZA and revoke reference to the social services tax, in line with the abolition of its law, to align ASEZA's tax system with tax standards and rules. Also during the session, the House referred the 70th annual report of the Audit Bureau for the year 2021 to its Finance Committee.
