AMMAN — The Senate on Sunday approved draft amendments to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZA) Law, the General Budget Law and the Government Units Budget Law as referred by the Lower House. Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and Cabinet ministers attended the session chaired by Senate President Faisal Fayez.

The two draft amendments to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Law, according to its validating reasons, oblige foreign companies to register with the Companies Control Department prior to their registration with ASEZA and to abolish the Social Services Tax law in order to place the new ASEZA tax law into compliance with international standards.  The amendments to the General Budget Law and Government Units Budget Law came in light of amendments to Article 112 of the Constitution, which required the submission of a single general budget draft law that includes the budgets of government units, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
