AMMAN — The maximum load on the national power grid reached 2,370 megawatts (MW) on Thursday, while the generating capacity stands at 4,000MW, according to National Electric Power Company Director General Abdul Fattah Daradkeh.

He said the national grid has so far been able to cope with the power load due to the relatively fair weather, stressing its capacity to deal with high loads in the summer.

Daradkeh added that power stations currently provide generating capacities that can deal with the expected increase in demand. He also highlighted the importance of using liquefied gas, currently in its experimental phase, to generate power instead of heavy fuel and diesel.
