AMMAN — Industry, Trade and Supply Ministry Spokesperson Yanal Barmawi on Saturday called on popular restaurants exempted from tax to amend their prices in line with the recent Cabinet decision that lowered the prices of some products.
Barmawi said that failure to comply with the new prices is a violation of the Industry and Trade Law and tax regulations, highlighting the importance of amending prices before October 31, which marks the end of the grace period for restaurants to switch to the new prices, according to a ministry statement.
He stressed that the ministry will start a campaign on November 1 to ensure that all concerned restaurants have updated their prices. The price of shawerma will be reduced by 15 per cent and hummus and foul (fava beans) by 7 per cent, under the Cabinet decision.
