AMMAN — King Harald V of Norway attended the closing ceremony of a conference titled “Spaces for Dialogue in the Middle East” on Tuesday at the Dead Sea.

The event, held at the Conference Palace in the Dead Sea area, centred on spaces for dialogue between Jordan and Norway, as well as the two countries’ common challenges, including climate change, large-scale migration, armed conflict and multilateral cooperation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the event, King Harald V said: “We highly appreciate the partnership with His Majesty King Abdullah.”

He stressed that dialogue will create larger spaces to come up with realistic solutions for conflicts and to spread peace, highlighting that the Kingdom has set an example in hosting and serving refugees.

Jordan, he said, has focused on signing agreements on joint work in the fields of trade and development in addition to providing opportunities for dialogue in the region, highlighting the two countries’ positions towards achieving security and peace, along with resolving regional crises.

At the Dead Sea, where Jordan, Palestine and Israel meet, is found one of the most important issues that requires reopening constructive dialogue and activating the peace process in the Middle East, the Norwegian king said, calling for a lasting resolution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, which respects the legitimate aspirations, as well as the history and culture, of each state.
