AMMAN — Minister of Education Tayseer Nueimi on Thursday participated in a virtual conference organised by the Islamic World Organisation for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) under the slogan "Educational Systems in Facing Crises and Emergencies — COVID-19".

During the videoconference, which was organised by ISESCO in cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Education, education ministers discussed efforts to address the coronavirus pandemic's repercussions on the education sector, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The ministers stressed the right to education during the emergency phase that Arab nations are facing, highlighting both their countries' success stories in education during the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges faced.

The ministers also discussed preparations of ISESCO countries to resume school life and to respond to the warnings issued by the World Health Organisation against easing quarantine restrictions prematurely.

During the conference, Nueimi presented Jordan's experience in the field of remote education in light of the suspension of school attendance since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the reasons behind the decision to extend the suspension.
