AMMAN — Partners for Good (PfG), a Jordanian non-profit organisation, has launched a national campaign to raise awareness of the need for enabling work environments that enhance economic participation of women and youth — a key prerequisite for the success and increased productivity of enterprises.

In phase 1, the Best Places to Work campaign, themed “A work environment is more than a place”, focuses on the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, in collaboration with the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j), according a PfG statement.

PfG is an authorised representative and exclusive agent of the international organisation, Best Places to Work, which started more than 30 years ago, and has a global programme that certifies and recognises leading workplaces in many countries around the world, the statement said.

“At Partners for Good, we believe in the importance of advancing work environments in various sectors in Jordan,” said PfG CEO and President Waleed Al Tarawneh.

“The certification programme globally recognises enterprises with best places to work, in general, and for women, in particular,” he added.

That, he added, “puts certified enterprises on the international map as certified workplaces, and contributes to their development, which would create enabling work environments that advances women’s labour force participation”.

For his part, int@j chairman, Amjad Swais, said the association “supports the business ecosystem integration in Jordan’s ICT sector through initiatives empowering individuals and developing their skills in line with market needs”.

“Int@j also supports efforts exerted by companies and looks for ways to overcome challenges facing these enterprises,” he noted.

Swais said int@j is a committed supporter of women’s empowerment in the ICT sector, with many initiatives centred on their capacity building and on promoting gender diversity in the workplace.

The national awareness raising campaign seeks to help Jordanian enterprises obtain international certification by applying on the website: HYPERLINK "http://www.pfg-jo.org/workplace"http://www.pfg-jo.org/workplace. With the certification, companies can improve productivity, build sustainable customer relationship and expand global networks, the statement said.
