AMMAN — As part of the second day of the “A Year of Modernisation” forum, a session on the Public Sector Modernisation Roadmap, discussed a number of specialised topics related to the development of public administration, the civil service and human resources.

Addressing the session, Planning Minister Zeina Toukan said that the Human Resources Roadmap involves eight strategic goals and 35 initiatives, with the aim of creating a more flexible civil service apparatus that can respond more effectively, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Access to a modern working environment provides opportunities for career and professional growth, and fosters a culture of performance and accountability, thus contributing to maintaining competencies, Toukan said.

Also speaking during the session, Civil Service Bureau (CSB) President, Sameh Nasser, announced that there is no plan to abolish the CSB. Rather, the Bureau will undergo a “radical shift”, transforming the scope of the CSB closer to its form in the 1990s “when the Jordanian administration was at its peak”, Nasser said.

In implementation of Royal directives, the Bureau has worked on 27 projects to comply with the legal and legislative requirements for its new role to amend the Civil Service Law in line with the CSB’s human resources strategy, which was approved by the Cabinet, he added.
