AMMAN — The government will create 30,000 jobs during the next two years as per the priorities set for 2019 and 2020, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz said on Wednesday.

The government over the next two years will create 30,000 jobs, achieve stability in the national economy, continue controlling expenditures and support economic sectors in the Kingdom that are known for enjoying competitive values, Razzaz said.

Razzaz made the remarks, during a meeting with presidents of the professional associations to discuss the government’s priorities for the years 2019 and 2020, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The government is setting these priorities according to a mechanism that focuses on needs that directly affect citizens and can make a difference in the quantity and level of services presented to Jordanians, the prime minister added.

He said that the priorities accord with His Majesty King Abdullah’s Royal Directives listed in the Letter of Designation, which focused on the country’s productivity, the state of law and solidarity, so as to embark on realising a “national renaissance”.

Regarding the state of law, Razzaz said that the government will move forward with its endeavours to develop political life, protect public freedoms and increase citizens’ participation in communities.

He also noted that with regards to the state of solidarity, the government will focus on social protection and improving the level of public services, such as health, education and transportation.

Razzaz said that the priorities will include certain projects, whose allocations will be added to the state budget which the government will start preparing during the next two weeks.

Implementing such priorities will be governed by specific indicators according to a fixed time table, the premier stressed.

Also on Wednesday, Razzaz and several ministers met with Senate President Faisal Fayez and members of the permanent office and heads of committees of the Upper House on the government priorities for the next two years.

Razzaz stressed that such priorities are not a “wish list” but rather a programme that would have to be implemented according to time schedules, Petra added.
