AMMAN — Minister of Water and Irrigation Motasem Saidan on Saturday conducted a field visit to check on the water conveyance and sewage services that will serve the field hospital in Prince Hamzah Hospital, according to a ministry statement.

The minister was accompanied by Acting Secretary General of the Water Authority of Jordan Ahmad Oleimat and Director of the Crisis Management and Control Department at the ministry Ibrahim Obada, and on the site he met with Wael Hayajneh, who is in charge of the Coronavirus File at the Ministry of Health, and CEO of Miyahuna Mohammad Ouran.

During the visit, Saidan said that, in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s Royal directives, the ministry is “highly prepared” to provide field hospitals with water and sewage services, noting that His Majesty had directed to set-up these hospitals to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Saidan inspected the progress of the work carried out by the ministry’s specialised cadres as of Friday morning, making use of the comprehensive lockdown “to swiftly ensure water services are provided in a timely manner”, according to the statement.

The sewage pipelines include pipes with a 200-millimetre diameter at a length of 55 metres. A drinking pipeline with a diameter of 64 millimetres at a length of 450 metres, made of polyethylene, will be connected to the pipeline for Prince Hamzah Hospital, the statement said, adding that the minister also toured the field hospital and was briefed by Hayajneh on its components and process of completion.

Hayajneh noted that “cooperation and coordination will remain at the highest levels to serve the country in these exceptional times of the crisis”, the statement concluded.
