Somali president to attend Arab summit

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Investment Affairs Jawad Anani on Wednesday delivered a written letter by His Majesty King Abdullah to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Mogadishu, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

In the letter, His Majesty invited Mohamud to participate in the Arab summit meeting, to be held  in Amman in late March next year. 

Anani and the Somali president discussed bilateral cooperation, especially in light of the planned summit, and also in light of the current conditions the Arab nation is going through, voicing hope that the summit will boost Arab solidarity and cooperation. 

Mohamud sent his greetings to King Abdullah and voiced appreciation of His Majesty’s efforts and role in boosting Arab solidarity and fighting terrorism within a comprehensive approach, commending also Jordan’s support for Somalia. 

Although Somalia will witness presidential election in 2017, Mohamud said he intends to participate in the summit and highlighted the importance of investing in the gathering to address the problems and challenges facing the Arab nation, especially in war zones.
