Thousands of Jordanians protest against Israeli war on Gaza

AMMAN Thousands of Jordanians took to the streets of the capital on Friday in protest against the Israeli aggression on Gaza and in solidarity with the strip's residents.

Protesters took part in two separate activities, with more than 1,500 people joining a rally in downtown Amman and over 500 people walking from the Professional Associations Complex in Shmeisani to the Fourth Circle.

The two activities were among several demonstrations held across the Kingdom on Friday in support of Gaza.

Zaki Bani Rsheid, deputy overall leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, said the downtown rally illustrates the feelings of the Jordanian people towards Palestinians and their support for the resistance.

“The Jordanian government must end all relations with the Zionist enemy," he said.

Sleiman Fuqaha said Gazans are suffering under a harsh Israeli aggression and no Arab country has done anything to end the bloodshed.

“All Arab countries have to stand up to the occupation and free Palestine,” he told The Jordan Times at the downtown rally.

Ali Ibrahim said all Arab nations have to rise up and provide all means of support to the Palestinian resistance.

“My message to the occupation is that its days are numbered; Palestine will be free one day,” he told The Jordan Times.

Ibrahim said he is proud of the resistance and their achievements so far.

“I am also sad because of the abject conditions civilians in Gaza are facing these days... Many buildings have been demolished and the infrastructure of the city was severely damaged,” he added.

Saeed Budair said such protests are important because they send a message to the whole world that a great number of people support Gaza and denounce the injustice Gazans face.

“These events also encourage nations to step up and provide help to Gaza and offer a glimpse of hope that Palestine will be soon free,” he added.

Similar protests were organised on Friday in Irbid, in Kufranjah in Ajloun in the Kingdom's north, in Southern Mazar in the southern Governorate of Karak and in Theeban, 40km southwest of Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
