Valentine’s Day brings business opportunities for beauty industry

AMMAN — The Kingdom’s beauty and cosmetics centres and spas have used Valentine’s Day to their advantage, as they market their promotions and get creative on this occasion.

“Many people love to give relaxation and spa gift vouchers and cards, therefore this year I created a Valentine’s Day-themed beauty and wellness voucher,” Beesan Omar, owner of a cosmetics centre based in Amman, told The Jordan Times on Monday.

Noting that Valentine’s Day is “a tremendous opportunity” for the local beauty industry to thrive amid deteriorating economic circumstances, Omar said that people now only purchase products or services during promotions, so continued and creative discounts and marketing strategies are the “foundation of business survival”.

On Monday, Jordanian hairdresser Wafaa Manaseer, told The Jordan Times that most salons and cosmetic centres have come up with offers or packages to appeal to customers.

“Some salons and centres this year started decorating their place with red balloons and red roses, which is a new marketing strategy I believe,” Manaseer noted. 

“The salon that I work at gave single roses to customers who came in on Valentine’s Day,” she added.

“The gift does not have to be a necklace or flowers,” Najla Sameer, a skin therapist said. 

“Women love to get pampered, and this Valentine’s Day many daughters and husbands have booked for their mothers and wives skin sessions with companies such as Hydra Facial, deep cleaning facial, and 24K gold facial,” according to Sameer. 

“Customers are always looking for a good deal, that is why during occasions it is a must to come up with promotions and discounts, otherwise they will go to another centre or clinic,” Sameer said.

She added that three days before Valentine’s Day, sales had increased by at least 40 per cent at her clinic.
