AMMAN — The National Centre for Security and Crisis Management held on Wednesday its first board meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and attended by HRH Prince Ali, the centre’s director.
In his remarks at the meeting, Ensour underlined the important role of the centre, created upon Royal directives to act as a specialised national entity that deals with crises and guarantees the highest level of coordination among concerned state agencies, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The heavy military presence in the board’s make-up is because crises are mainly of a military nature, the premier said, highlighting the abilities and efficiency of military and security bodies in managing emergency situations.
Prince Ali pointed out the importance of activating the work at the centre to deal with crises at all times, whether natural or man-made.
The board of directors approved, during the meeting, the instructions related to the work of the centre under the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management By-law issued late last week and put into force after it was published in the Official Gazette.
