Jordan records first cases of new COVID variant — Health Ministry

AMMAN — A Jordanian and his wife, who have recently arrived from the United Kingdom, have tested positive for the new variant (B117) of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat announced Sunday.
Obeidat told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the two cases were discovered after tracking down and testing of recent arrivals from the UK.
He said that the couple came from the UK on December 19 and are now in "excellent" health status.
According to the minister, the couple is now under home isolation and epidemiological teams are tracking down their contacts.
