Mulki directs gov’t agencies to coordinate summit preparations

AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Sunday instructed all ministries and government departments to help in the ongoing preparations to host the Arab summit, slated for March 29, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

In a circular to the ministries and departments, Mulki stressed the importance of combined efforts to render the summit a success.

The prime minister had formed a higher committee comprising ministers and officials from different departments to handle the summit arrangements and forward all plans to the concerned agencies for implementation, Petra reported.

A media committee was also formed to take care of media coverage and coordination, while a third panel was formed to take care of protocol arrangements and logistics. 

His Majesty King Abdullah on October 24 issued directives to host the summit after Yemen apologised for not being able to host the session.

So far, invitations have been delivered to Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir, Moroccan King Mohammed VI, Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, Kuwaiti Emir Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah and Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

 

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud , UAE President Sheikh Khalifah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Bahraini King Hamad Bin Issa Al Khalifah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, Sultan of Oman Qaboos Bin Said, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh, Comorian President Azali Assoumani and Iraqi President Fuad Masum also received invitations.
