AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez disbursed financial aid to the some 1,000 underprivileged families, amounting in total to JD30,000 as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
These amounts were reallocated from the Senate’s social solidarity fund, Petra added, into which regular deductions from the senators’ salaries flow. The aid will be delivered via the Ministry of Social Development to the impoverished families, each receiving JD30, Fayez said.
He added that the fund has donated hundreds of thousands to supporting the families of fallen soldiers and officers of various security apparatuses, in addition to indebted Jordanian women, hospitals and various other charities and causes.
Fayez called on all banks, chambers of commerce and industry, major companies and trade unions to start similar social solidarity funds to boost their contributions to society in such difficult conditions.
