AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma on Saturday underlined the importance of “good” education as one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, which she said presents a comprehensive global vision for a better world.

At the opening of the Private Schools’ Cultural and Education Council’s 25th Educational Forum, the princess highlighted the significant role educators play in contributing to the development of Jordan and future generations.

During this year’s event, titled “Value-Based Education”, participants discussed a number of tools, concepts and strategies to apply new pedagogies that develop students’ character and capabilities.

The two-day forum provides a platform for teachers from several Arab countries and Jordan to exchange expertise on educational issues.

Omar Tayeh, the chairman of the council, said neglecting value education would lead to the destruction of society, calling for restructuring the educational process to serve citizenship.

The forum’s opening ceremony included a lecture by former higher education minister Walid Maani in which he shed light on the role of parents as complementary to the school and the curricula in instilling good values among students.

Established in 1989, the forum aims at providing an annual platform for teachers and educators from around the region to exchange expertise on the latest developments in the sector.
